The theme of the drive is “Saving Lives is in Your Blood,” which will hopefully encourage our student body to realize the importance of giving blood and the need for it in our community.
Senior Shannon Champion organized this event as a part of her senior project. "I chose a blood drive for my senior project because giving blood is something that I am very passionate about. The fact that saving lives is literally in our blood is amazing."
"Within our blood, we possess the capability to save the lives of others, and in my opinion, I believe that it would be selfish to withhold that. I think that many healthy and eligible people never donate because they are either intimidated or simply unaware of the process. My hope with this project is to educate and invite people to become lifetime donors and regular life savers,” said Shannon.
The other part of her project involves Life South’s “5 Points of Life” program for blood education for elementary students. This will be held at a special assembly for our elementary students after the blood drive.
Each member of Cornerstone Prep’s Class of 2016 has put together a Senior Project for the school and/or the community. “The Senior Project at Cornerstone has given our students a unique opportunity to plan and execute service projects that fit their own passions and talents,” said Worldviews teacher Pat Burton, “It has been amazing to see what God has done and how He has worked in and through our Seniors thus far. I so appreciate the willing spirits and servants' hearts of our senior class.”
Champion would like to encourage as many people as possible to come out to give blood on Monday, April 25. “After all,” said Shannon, “saving lives is in your blood.”
