Parents and students, there are steps you can take to remove this app or any messages you feel are inappropriate.
Could you please advise students to respond with STOP to the messages? This will prevent any future issue...
...Our moderators and I are keeping an extra close eye on your school. We added extra moderators. We are launching an investigation. Do you have more details (or screenshots) with regards to what is going on?We can remove posts and ban people.
We are doing a number of steps to prevent people from misusing our application(https://medium.com/@afterschoolapp/after-school-safety-the-steps-we-re-taking-to-improve-our-community-565a2386aa5d#.gsdw0p5uw). In addition to the steps we are taking, we have 24/7 live support for all students. This means if someone posts a message like “I’m depressed right now“…within seconds we will connect them with one of our support counselors. Tens of thousands of teens use this free counseling service through our app every month.
We have content (both human and technical) moderators reviewing every piece of content. Sometimes thing,unfortunately, slip past them. There is a report (and block) button in the app directly under each post. If a post is reported, it is IMMEDIATELY removed. We do have an instruction at the beginning of the app letting people know about this. However, some people skip past it.
Would it be possible to let your students know this? This way if they see something they don’t want to see...they can IMMEDIATELY remove it.
