“The Acworth Arbor Day poster contest was an excellent opportunity for our Cornerstone Prep students to participate in a community-sponsored art event,” said Mrs. Barrett, “Congratulations to all the student artists on their hard work and creativity. I’m so proud of each of the participants!”
CORNERSTONE'S FINE ART PHILOSOPHY
At Cornerstone Prep, we believe God creates us with a need to express ourselves through more than traditional language both individually and corporately. The Arts reflect the creative nature of God and our endeavors in the Arts should bring glory to our Heavenly Father. Through practice, performance, and constructive criticism, our goal is greatness in all we do, so that students will passionately impact cultures in need of Jesus’ love and redemption.
The Old and New Testaments are filled with verses about music, dance, design, sculpture, painting, masonry, jewelry making, singing, carpentry, storytelling, and poetry. Inspiration for an artist can come directly from the Lord, and the artist inspires and gives hope to others through their art. And when God receives the glory, people are filled with encouragement and lasting hope. The Arts lift our hearts to a greater understanding of the Lord and His eternal, loving relationship with us.
Studies clearly reveal that involvement in the Arts improves academic performance. We believe it is vital that we provide experiences to students that will instill a lifelong love of, appreciation of, and involvement in the Arts. Fine Arts students are exposed to a number of opportunities to be involved in exhibits, concerts, recitals and other collaborative performance opportunities.
Ultimately, we take great pride that within the Fine Arts Department, we don't simply read or learn about our subjects; we dance, sing, play, act, paint, and sculpt. And, we openly share our work with our peers and our community.
