Twelve years ago, or 2,160 school days ago, I was one of nine students in a tiny little first grade classroom at the Acworth Church of God of Prophecy. Cornerstone Prep was one year old, and I was six years old.
My teacher asked each of us what our dad's profession was. Little did I know that my answer to the question would be laughed about 12 years later at family gatherings. I let my teacher know that my dad was a rocket scientist. I said that because he would always say, “it doesn’t take rocket science to figure things out”. Working at a box company is not nearly as exciting as being a rocket scientist!
"It’s going to be cool having my grandmother hand me my diploma."
A Move to Summit & Older Elementary
It was fun to be on the flag football team in elementary school. Then I tried tackle football. It was Cornerstone’s first team, but my football season was cut short, only getting to play in one game due to a broken back. While recovering, I met Coach Steve DeFrancesco, and he encouraged me to join the tennis team, which I have been a part of for the last four years.
"All I have ever experienced is a University Model schedule and looking back I am grateful for the time my mom spent with me in my early years and how I have learned to become an independent learner. I’ll be glad to say in a couple of weeks that I spent all twelve years at Cornerstone Prep."
