I had the privilege of joining the Cornerstone Preparatory Academy family during the fall semester of my freshman year in 2014. I have since graduated and now attend Truett McConnell University where I am pursuing a Nursing Degree. From the moment I stepped foot into Cornerstone, I was informed that I would be fully equipped with not only the academic skills but spiritual knowledge as well, which would prepare me for my personal college experience. I did not fully grasp how vital this was until I actually began the whole new experience of college life for myself.
I have been in a private Christian school since the sixth grade. It was no surprise that I chose to follow this path on my college journey into Truett. Cornerstone is filled with a team of teachers and staff that are fully invested in each child’s life. Not only does this care and devotion include academic matters, but it extends to personal lives as well.
They make it their mission to see that all students are excelling in every aspect of our education, spiritual walk, and all other areas of life. This has made the college transition abundantly easier. Having my core foundation built within the walls of Cornerstone Prep, I am confident going forward knowing that I have every tool needed to succeed.
Cornerstone is filled with a team of teachers and staff that are fully invested in each child’s life.Going onto a Christian campus, I found it imperative to know and realize that not everyone would hold the same ideals and values that I did. Through no fault of its own, even though TMU is a Christian university, many of the students are still just like they are at any other school; not everyone is there to seek the love and relationship with Christ--as I am.
Through Cornerstone, I learned how to understand and work through my own views and how to correctly address the tough questions as well as stand strong against the temptations that present themselves to hold my personal witness and relationship accountable for those around me. While I still struggle and know there is always more to learn, having the basic principles to know where I stand and how to address issues such as these would not have been possible without the love and guidance obtained from my time at Cornerstone.
Probably the most impactful component I took away was my academic studies. Cornerstone is so unique in the way in which they prepare you for what to expect once each student moves on to college. Their high standards, course structure, the experiences offered, and the overall academic atmosphere has fully equipped me to not only succeed but excel in my academics along with balancing many other components and doing so with ease.
I am currently taking 17 credit hours, working two jobs, as well as juggling relationships, friendships, and a social life. While Cornerstone does not offer the class, “How to Balance an Incredibly Hectic Lifestyle”, they do lay the foundation of responsibility, accountability, and time management that makes the transition go smoothly to college life, expectations, and responsibility that is necessary to grow and achieve.
There is not enough time in the day to explain how much Cornerstone has impacted my life and how appreciative I am for the love that was shown to my family and me during my time there. It is so comforting to know that they truly care for you, and it is evident not just by word, but through actions.

I continue to maintain a relationship with many of the staff at Cornerstone which is a blessing to know that I can continue to talk to and fellowship with them on a personal level. Cornerstone was such a blessing during my season there and continues to provide, care, and help me grow as a person, as a college student, and most importantly, as a believer in Christ, and I will be forever grateful to have been a part of it and to have the honor to call it my family and home.
