Cornerstone Teachers

Every year in October, we set aside several days for Parent-Teacher Conferences in Elementary. While most schools, both public and private do this, conferences look a bit different here at Cornerstone. This year our conference dates are on Tuesday, October 12 & 19, and Thursday, October 14 & 21. Here's what you need to know and some important tips for your conference time:

Conferences are NOT required.

One of the best and most important parts of our University Model™ is the ongoing communication between parents and teachers. In Elementary you are a co-teacher and therefore aware and involved in everything that your child is learning! Because you are working with your child 3 days a week, you know and are able to address any area that your child is struggling with quickly. This ongoing communication and partnership between parents and teachers is vital to the success of our students.

Conferences are scheduled at the discretion of the teacher or parent.

Your child's teacher will reach out to you if she would like to schedule an October Conference. While some of our early elementary teachers schedule conferences with all of their students, this isn't needed in all grades. However, our wonderful teachers are always happy to meet with you. If you do not hear from your child's teacher by Thursday, October 7, and would like a conference, please email them and they will schedule one for you.

Conference Tips:

  • Be punctual and concise. These conferences will be scheduled during the school day. Starting and ending on time is important as teachers will have a substitute teacher covering their class during that time.
  • Make a list of questions that you would like to ask during the conference.
  • Learning-Focused Questions to ask…
    • Is my child performing at grade level?
    • How is he/she performing compared to the rest of the class?
    • How can he/she improve and what can we be doing at home to help?
  • Share any concerns you have noticed on your home days when working with your child. This can be so helpful to a teacher!
  • Remember there is nothing to be nervous about! Both you and your child's teacher have his/her best interest at heart and we are always rooting for your child's success!

Thank you for partnering with us in your child's education and my door is always open if you have questions or concerns.
