A Cornerstone Veterans Day Tribute

This Veterans Day, meet a few incredible members of our Cornerstone family, two alumni and one dad, whose stories of service, sacrifice, and unwavering faith will inspire you. From flying helicopters to standing alongside World War II heroes in Normandy, their journeys show what it truly means to serve something greater than yourself. Discover the lessons they’ve learned about courage, perseverance, and living a life grounded in faith.

The God Who Stays the Same

They say God writes the best stories, and Bella Barnes’ testimony proves it. This Cornerstone alumna (‘25), once skeptical of faith, now stands boldly as a follower of Christ. Her baptism, performed by her Cornerstone High School Bible teacher, became a powerful reminder that no seed of truth ever returns void. Her story is one of grace that waited, prayers that never stopped, and a God who brings everything full circle in His perfect time.

Familiar Faces, New Roles

There’s something uniquely special about a place that draws you back after you’ve left it. For alumni John Caden Falkins and Avery Paine, returning to Cornerstone isn’t just about starting a new role; it’s about stepping back onto a campus that helped shape them into the people they are today, this time not as students, but as contributors to the school that once poured into them.

Cornerstone Alumna Turns Calling Into Career

Driven by a deep sense of justice and rooted in her faith, Cornerstone alumna, Michelle (Castro) Souza, ‘19, turned her calling into a career. Now a licensed criminal attorney, she’s advocating for the voiceless, living out Micah 6:8, and proving that purpose and perseverance go hand in hand.

Where Their Story Began—And Begins Again

Emily and Alex Hardie were members of Cornerstone’s very first graduating class in 2010. Now, they’ve returned—this time as parents—walking their child, the first alumni student, into a new chapter of the same story. Today, discover how the Hardies are experiencing the beauty of Cornerstone all over again, now through their child’s eyes.

Student Life Club Continues to Ripple

You never know where a simple step of obedience can lead. What began as just joining a Student Life Club has led Cornerstone Alumna, Courtney Carmichael, to find a passion, purpose, and even a career path. Today, be encouraged that when we are in moments that seem small or insignificant, God can be doing amazing work from our simple "yes".
