Tennis Advances to State

The Cornerstone boys tennis team has been lighting up the court this season. They performed especially well at the GICAA Division II AA region tournament, where they were runners-up in the team tournament. Their placement secured them a spot in the state tournament in Rome, Georgia, on Apr 17.

In addition, the following individual players placed in the top four of the region in the individual tournament and also advance to the state tournament in Rome on Apr 16:

  • Devon Sweat, 9 - 4th place boys singles
  • Reid Finnegan, 12 / Matthew Garner, 10 - 2nd place boys doubles
  • Levi Willoughby, 12 / Harrison Borders, 10 - 3rd place boys doubles

"The competition was fierce, and this is a huge accomplishment for the players," said Coach Steve DeFrancesco.

Congratulations, Cougar tennis!
