Cornerstone Senior's Impressive Artwork Uplifts Fellow Students

Rachel Shannon's (12) skilled artwork is well known within Cornerstone's visual arts community, so it was natural that Mrs. Robbins would commission this special art piece from Rachel for use in the clinic area.

Her impressive 36 x 72 inch mural, which shows Jesus carrying a lamb, was revealed in December after months of work.

Tuition Balance for 2020-21 Due Wed, Feb 10

NEW

As we look forward to registration for the 2021-22 school year at the end of January we wanted to remind families that the tuition balance for the current school year (2020-21) must be paid in full by Wed, Feb 10.

If there is an outstanding tuition balance as of Thu, Feb 11, any submitted registration packets will be removed from the queue by our registrar until final payment is made. This will change the time stamp on your registration form and its place in the queue.

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Bolding.

Did Your Medical Insurance Change for the New Year?

NEW

If you switched medical coverage with the turn of the new year, please update your information in ParentsWeb. (ParentsWeb link is located on the top of our website page.)

Once in ParentsWeb do the following:

  • Under "School"
  • Select "Web Forms"
  • Select "Medical/Field Trip Permission Form"
  • IMPORTANT:
    • You will need to re-enter parent name and phone number at the top of the form.
    • Do not use the "auto fill" option as this changes the name of your student.

Double Check Uniforms & Backpacks

Uniforms

Students often experience a growth spurt and clothes that fit well in the fall don't always adhere to guidelines in the spring. Before we return for the spring semester, please take a moment and double-check that uniforms fit properly, are not tight or loose, and are a modest length ("at the knee").

Click here for 2020-21 uniform options

Backpacks

We are noticing some backpacks with extending handles are broken. This is a safety hazard as the handles are often sticking out of the lockers and into the hallways impeding students. Please check your student's backpack handle to make sure it is functioning properly.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing our students in January.

Updated COVID-19 Response Plan

As you may have recently read in the news, the CDC has updated its close contact quarantine guidelines. While the CDC still recommends a  preferred 14-day quarantine period, they have provided several shorter quarantine options when specific criteria are met.

To learn more about these options, please refer to our updated COVID-19 response plan that will be implemented school wide in January.

Our response plan can also be found on the Family Portal home page.

Basketball Spectator Guidelines for 2020-21

NEW

In compliance with GAPPS and Cornerstone guidelines, we are operating gym seating at half capacity. Begining at our home game on  Mon, Jan 11, we will be following new spectator guidelines for the 2020-21 Basketball season.

A middle school and high school color-coded, dated wristband will be used to secure seating in the student section. Entry will be granted only to students who are wearing the appropriate color-coded dated wristband.

What you need to know:

  • We have reserved 30 seats for the student section.
  • Wristbands may be secured at the front office from Mrs. Lori Smith on game day during normal office hours (8 a.m. - 4 p.m.).
  • Wristbands are distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis.
  • Lost wristbands are not replaced and entry will not be allowed.

Middle School Game Student Spectators

  • Middle school students (30) may pick up a dated wristband at the front office on game day.
  • Middle school students will be required to exit the gym at the end of the middle school game and will not be granted re-entry for high school games since the 30-seat student section is reserved for high school students during high school games.

High School Games Student Spectators

  •  30 Seats will be designated as follows:
    • 15 high school wristbands for each game day are available for students in grades 9-11
    • 15 high school wristbands will be set aside for seniors through the end of fourth period
  • Any senior-designated wristbands remaining after fourth period will be freed up for use by underclassmen.
  • The color-coded dated wristband will allow high school student entry for all high school games on the specified game day.

IMPORTANT: Students who choose to attend basketball games and sit in the student section do so with the full understanding that there is a risk of a quarantine period if a student in attendance at the game develops symptoms and tests positive for COVID within two days after the game.

Elementary Cheer Encourages Seniors At Christmas
Cornerstone Elementary Cheer Spreads Christmas Cheer

NEW

COVID-19 didn't stop our elementary elective from spreading Christmas cheer. Students started preparing in November by making Christmas cards and snowflakes for Northstar Place residents. Parents of the students donated store bought cookies to be delivered with the homemade cards.

The Northstar Place activities director said residents were happy to receive the treats and cards and the facility looks forward to having our school back next Christmas.

We are so thankful and blessed to have been able to still participate in showing love, generosity, and cheerful encouragement during the Christmas season 2020.
