Gratitude In Every Link
As Thanksgiving approaches, our school foyer tells a beautiful story—a story of gratitude. This year, our elementary and secondary students participated in a simple yet profound project that serves as a reminder of God’s abundant blessings in our lives. Today, see what our students are thankful for and whether elementary or secondary expressed the most gratitude to win a special dress day!
Earlier this month, our Cornerstone students and staff were invited to write down what they’re thankful for on a strip of paper. These expressions of gratitude, from heartfelt to humorous, were linked together to form a paper chain that stretched the entire length of our school hallways and now hangs in our foyer. It’s a visual tapestry of thanks—a powerful symbol of grateful hearts and shared blessings.
A Heart Posture
This paper chain is more than just a decoration; it’s a physical representation of 1 Thessalonians 5:18: “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” It reminds us that gratitude isn’t just an act, but a posture of the heart. In a world that often feels rushed and distracted, our students and staff took the time to slow down and acknowledge the goodness in their lives. Their thankfulness serves as a ripple effect, challenging each of us to find joy and contentment in the everyday gifts God provides.
“I’m thankful that God created me for a purpose!"
"I'm thankful for how much the Lord has grown me over the last year."
"I'm thankful for CPA faculty who are outstanding teachers and also care deeply for the hearts of their students."
"I'm thankful that everyday my grandpa drives an hour to pick up me and my sisters."
Walking through the foyer, you can’t help but pause and reflect on the depth of these simple themes:
Church and Faith: "I'm thankful for how much grace God has for his children."
Family, Friends, and Pets: "I'm thankful for my family who loves and cares for me through hard times."
Sports: "I'm thankful for Cornerstone soccer and baseball."
School and Teachers and Courses: "I'm thankful for my funny, kind, and amazing teachers."
Student Life Activities: "I'm thankful for SIFAT." "I'm thankful for IMPACT, so excited!"
Food and Restaurants: "I'm thankful for Chick-fil-A."
Freedom and Country: "I'm thankful for freedom in my country."
Community Service and Health Professionals: "I'm thankful for firemen and police officers."
Moms In Prayer- Thankful for Their Faithfulness
We are deeply grateful for the prayers of our school families, and today, we want to spotlight a dedicated group of women who meet every Wednesday after drop-off to pray specifically for our school and students. These moms are part of Moms in Prayer, an international ministry active in over 150 countries.
During their hour together, they praise God for who He is, take a moment for silent confession, give thanks for His work in our community, and pray Scripture over our students, staff, teachers, administration, and board. It’s a beautiful example of faith in action.
This morning, we showed our appreciation with a light breakfast, thanking them for their unwavering prayers. If you’d like to join this impactful group, their next prayer time is Wednesday, December 20, at 8:30 a.m. in the Art Room. Come make a difference for generations to come!
AND THE WINNER IS…….ELEMENTARY! Get ready to dress in your favorite Christmas pajamas on Tuesday, December 17.
As we gather around our Thanksgiving tables this year, let’s carry this spirit of gratitude with us. Like the paper chain that connects their words, may we be united in our thanks—both for the blessings we see and those yet unseen.

Sometimes, God’s answer is no, but that no is never the end of the story. Like Paul, who found strength in his weakness, we can trust that God’s denials are filled with purpose. Even during this holiday season, when we face disappointment—whether in relationships, health, or life’s plans—we are invited to know. Know His grace is enough. Know He is working all things for our good. Today, find encouragement that a no today often sets the stage for a better yes tomorrow.
