Making a Splash: Meet Mrs. McIntosh

Making a Splash: Meet Mrs. McIntosh

There’s a new face leading Cornerstone’s swim team this year, and she’s ready to make a splash!

Meet Mrs. Cassidy McIntosh, who joined the Cornerstone family this year as a kindergarten teaching assistant and will also be leading our swimmers this season. With a lifelong love of swimming and a heart for encouraging children, Mrs. McIntosh is excited to help our students grow both in and out of the pool.

Her swimming journey began at just five years old when she joined her neighborhood swim team and swam every summer through fifth grade. She returned to the sport in high school, swimming on her school’s team for three years.

Her passion for swimming has continued through the years, including teaching private swim lessons to young children. One of her favorite parts of teaching in the water has always been watching children become more confident and discover the joy of swimming.

When the opportunity arose to share that passion with Cornerstone students, she was excited to jump in.
“I’ve always had a passion for swimming, so when the opportunity came about for me to share that love of swimming at Cornerstone, I jumped at the chance.”

More Than Just a Sport

For Mrs. McIntosh, the swim team is about much more than improving times and learning new skills. She’s looking forward to seeing our swimmers grow in their abilities while also developing meaningful friendships along the way.

“A school sports team is a great place to meet lifelong friends who share similar interests!” she says.
Her hope is that students leave the season with stronger swimming skills, great friendships, and plenty of fun memories.

Students don’t need to be super-confident swimmers to be part of the team. The main requirement is that they are able to swim down and back in a 25-meter pool without stopping. Everything else can come with practice.

She sees swimming as a valuable lifelong skill, a great way to condition for other sports, and, perhaps most importantly, a wonderful opportunity to find community and friends.

Swimming with Purpose

As a member of the Cornerstone community, Mrs. McIntosh is especially excited about the opportunity to help our swimmers represent Christ through their actions.

She hopes the team will be known for great sportsmanship and respect toward others, with swimmers reflecting the characteristics of Jesus throughout the season.

That desire fits naturally with what she loves most about Cornerstone.

“I love that Cornerstone’s goal is to point its students to Christ in all that they do,” she says. “From academics to athletics, you will see every member of the Cornerstone faculty encouraging students in their faith.”

From the Kindergarten Classroom to the Pool

Many Cornerstone families will also know Mrs. McIntosh as one of our kindergarten TAs. Getting to work with our youngest students while also leading our athletes gives her the opportunity to encourage students at two very different stages of their school journey.

“I love my kindergarten students so much,” Cassidy says. “They are so excited about being in school this year, and their desire to learn is so evident! I love seeing how proud of themselves they are when they master a new concept. It’s so rewarding.”

Whether she’s cheering on a kindergartner mastering a new concept or encouraging a swimmer to tackle a new challenge in the pool, Cassidy loves seeing students grow in confidence.

A Few More Fun Facts About Mrs. McIntosh

When she’s not at Cornerstone, Cassidy is probably spending time with her three kids, going for a run, or belting out a song. She loves staying active and praising the Lord through music, and you may be surprised to learn that she currently serves on the worship team at her church.

As for her favorite thing about swimming? She loves that it combines the best of both worlds: it’s an individual sport where swimmers can race and challenge themselves, while also being a team sport where every swimmer contributes to the success of the group.

We’re excited to see what this season holds for Mrs. McIntosh and our Cornerstone swimmers!
