Partnering in Prayer
In a heartwarming display of generosity, a Cornerstone family has donated a beautiful prayer bench to our school. This act of kindness is not only a testament to their commitment to our community but also a symbol of the power of prayer in our school community.
The Prayer Bench: A Symbol of Faith and Reflection
Every morning before anyone arrives, our Head of School, Mrs. Robbins, can be found praying her way through each and every classroom and hallway. Praying for every student, family, and staff member. In order to breathe out the blessings, one must first breathe in the Word of God, for we serve out of our overflow. Romans 15:13 The school garden is one place where Mrs. Robbins breathes in the Word of God and prays to be used by the Holy Spirit and ready for the day ahead.
What a privilege it is to pray for the Cornerstone community. My early morning habit of praying and reading God's Word came through years of observing my mom doing the same thing. In the Garden was also one of her favorite hymns - it was even sung at her funeral because it was such a clear portrayal of the time she intentionally spent with her Savior early in the morning.-Mrs.Robbins
A favorite old hymn reminds us that when we take time out of our busy days, He, the Maker of Heaven and Earth, meets with us, walks with us, and talks with us. Father God gave us such a beautiful gift, the assurance that we are His.
It felt fitting, since Mrs. Robbins is such a prayer warrior, we should have a dedicated prayer bench in the garden. A place of peace to rest and be filled with the Word of God. The family’s generous donation enhances our campus but also echoes the heart of Moms in Prayer International's mission. It is a reminder that prayer is essential to education and personal growth, offering a space for reflection and connection with God.
A Legacy of Prayer: Moms in Prayer International
Founded in 1984, Moms in Prayer International has grown into a global movement, uniting women in prayer for the next generation and advocating for a culture of prayer in schools. Moms in Prayer International believes that prayer is a powerful tool for change and support, providing a foundation of hope and encouragement for both students and educators. The organization's mission is to support and equip mothers as they pray for their children's safety, education, and spiritual growth.
Each Wednesday after drop off, a small group of Cornerstone moms gather to lift up prayers for the school and our children specifically. They use a prayer sheet with an attribute of God to focus on, as well as, some scriptures. They praise God for who he is, have a moment of silent confession to quiet our hearts, then thank Him for how He is moving in the lives of the students, teachers, staff, and the school. And then, they pray scripture over our children, administration, staff, teachers, board, etc.
This group invites moms to join for an hour of prayer on Wednesday mornings to impact the generations for Christ and pray for our school community! The next time of prayer will be Wednesday, August 28 at 8:30 a.m. in the Art Room.
A Community United in Prayer
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken
Ecclesiastes 4:9–12
Here at Cornerstone, there are many ways to find a community to pray with. Whether it’s Moms in Prayer or one of the opportunities below, we are so grateful for your prayers.
Bright Prayer Student Life Club: Bright is an opportunity for all secondary girls to gather monthly in prayer, devotion, and fellowship. It is led by senior girls who have a heart for relationship-building and communicating Truth in relatable ways. New members are always welcome!
Friday Morning Prayer: On most Friday mornings, all secondary students and staff are invited to the Den from 7:40 - 8:15 a.m for a time of self-guided prayer. Check the Secondary Student Life & Events Calendar for the dates these opportunities are offered. We want to provide a space for students to meet with the Lord, and to take intentional time to find some rest, clarity, and peace as they reflect on their week. There’s no agenda and students can come and go as they please. Students may also pray together and help encourage one another through The Word and through prayer.
As we move further into the school year, we encourage everyone in our school to take a moment to visit the prayer bench, reflect, and pray. Let it be a symbol of our collective faith and a reminder of the profound impact that prayer can have in our lives and our incredible school!
