Reaching Hearts In Unexpected Places

Reaching Hearts In Unexpected Places

At an age when many are still figuring out their path, Luke Josef, a Cornerstone freshman, has already found a calling that sets him apart—sharing the Gospel at a local public school. While some may view high school as a time for self-focus, Luke sees it as an opportunity to impact others through faith. His dedication to spreading the message of Christ is a powerful reminder of the boldness we are called to have in our own walk with God.

Where Faith Comes Alive

The Bible Club is student-led, allowing the middle schoolers to take charge as they pray together, participate in sword drills, and hear lessons from their peers. The atmosphere is filled with excitement and curiosity as they break into small groups to discuss the lessons and dive deeper into the Word.

Sometimes, they engage in hands-on games that transform learning about faith into a fun adventure. Recently, the students have been focused on deepening their understanding of prayer. In the heart of a local public school, a growing after-school Bible Club is changing lives, and Luke Josef, a Cornerstone freshman with a deep passion for service, has found his place. Each Thursday, Luke volunteers alongside students from his church to support a group of about 45 middle schoolers—many of whom have never stepped foot in a church and some who have never even owned a Bible.

Luke finds great fulfillment in his role. “Sitting alongside the students, I help them navigate the pages of the Bible, and guide them through passages,” added Luke. His presence is more than just support; it is a source of encouragement that reassures these young souls they are not alone in their faith journey. Mark 10:45 reminds us of the heart of servant leadership: “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Luke seamlessly works through this kind of leadership, understanding that his role is to serve, showing the love of Christ through his actions.

More Than A Club

For many of the students, the Bible Club is more than just an after-school activity; it is a place where they feel accepted and loved. Luke sees how the club fosters genuine friendships, creating a sense of community. As students open up, share their thoughts, and pray for one another, the bonds they form become a testament to the power of faith in action.

Faith in Action

Luke’s story is a such a great reminder of what God can do through someone willing to step out in faith. As a freshman, he is already demonstrating the power of servant leadership, bold evangelism, and unwavering commitment to God’s call. His efforts remind us all that we are never too young—or too busy—to make a significant impact for the Kingdom.

As Luke continues his journey, he prays that the Bible Club will remain a place where students can encounter the love of Christ. And as we follow his example, may we also seek to share the Gospel wherever we are, trusting that God will use our efforts to bring others closer to Him.

If you’re inspired by the incredible work happening in the after-school Bible Club and want to make a difference, we invite you to get involved! Perhaps you could create something similar through your church to create a welcoming space where other middle schoolers at other public schools can explore their faith, make meaningful connections, and experience the love of Christ.

Let’s continue to impact the next generation!

From "No" To "Know"

Sometimes, God’s answer is no, but that no is never the end of the story. Like Paul, who found strength in his weakness, we can trust that God’s denials are filled with purpose. Even during this holiday season, when we face disappointment—whether in relationships, health, or life’s plans—we are invited to know. Know His grace is enough. Know He is working all things for our good. Today, find encouragement that a no today often sets the stage for a better yes tomorrow.
