With Grateful Hearts for Our Moms

“Her children rise up and call her blessed…” – Proverbs 31:28

There are some gifts from God that shape us in ways we don’t fully understand until we grow, and a mother’s love is one of them.

As we prepare for Mother’s Day this Sunday, our hearts at Cornerstone have been especially full. In classrooms and hallways, we’ve been reminded just how deeply our students are known, loved, and cared for by their moms.

Yesterday, our elementary students welcomed their moms for our Cinco de Mom-o celebration, a day that felt just as fun as it sounds!!

Watching our students light up simply because their mom was there was a beautiful picture of love in its purest form.

You could see it clearly, God’s design for family, for connection, for love that shows up again and again in the everyday.

Secondary Students Share How It's The Little Things That Matter The Most

As our secondary students took time to reflect on their moms, their words are such a sweet reminder of something we know to be true, God often shows His love to us through people, and for many of these students, that love is seen most clearly in their mom.

In the everyday routines and simple moments, it’s there:

“Every day after school, my mom asks how my day was… and she hasn’t missed a day in 10–11 years.”
“This morning she made me breakfast, even though she had things to do.”
“She makes dinner and listens to me.”
“She wakes me up in the morning.”

Many students also recognized the sacrifices their moms make:

“She always puts my needs above her own.”
“She sacrifices what she wants to do so I can do what I love.”
“Even when she has a lot going on, she still makes time for me.”

And in deeper ways, they see how well they are known and cared for:

“She knows what I’m feeling before I even say anything.”
“She’s always happy to see me, even when I’m not in the best mood.”
“She tells me she loves me all the time.”
“She’s my biggest supporter.”

Beyond what they do, these students are being shaped by what their moms are pouring into them:

“She points me back to God.”
“She taught me how to treat people and love others, even when it’s hard.”
“Look for the good in people.”
“Don’t let other people distract you.”
“I’m not responsible for other people’s feelings.”
“Be respectful and encourage others.”

Some lessons are big. Some are small. But they are all part of something greater.

It’s the kind of love that reflects Christ: patient, sacrificial, consistent.

And whether these students fully realize it yet or not, the way their moms are loving them is helping shape not just who they are now, but who they are becoming.

To Our Moms

As we celebrate Mother’s Day, we simply want to say thank you.

Thank you for the early mornings and late nights.

For the prayers, the encouragement, and the countless unseen sacrifices.

For loving your children so well, and for pointing them to Jesus along the way.

You are shaping hearts. You are building lives. And what you do matters more than words can fully express.

“The Lord bless you and keep you…” – Numbers 6:24

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Cornerstone!!!
